A Bit of Background

Hi, I’m Sheila and I’ve been overweight since I was a teen. There have been times I’ve lost some but I’ve gained it back usually with a bit more to make me more cuddly. I started this site because I watched a video by a young lady saying that “you are overweight because you have no self control”.

She looked to be in her twenties and she was taking a walk in the video. The premise for the video is she had lost a significant amount of weight because she had upped her self control, and the reason you are still overweight is because you haven’t.

Now I’m happy for her that she is getting to whatever goal she has set for herself, and to a certain degree she wasn’t entirely wrong.

But she also is.

Like a stage production, there is a whole lot of action behind the scenes. We consist of the body, mind, spirit and emotions, and there are external factors. We are one large moving part, and most times it’s the hidden that dictates the visible. Here at Body Ally we will be looking at some potential hidden culprits, providing support and tips for a fuller and happier life.

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SEEK A PROFESSIONAL IF YOU START TO FEEL:

ENCOUNTER SOMETHING OVERWHELMING

OR SEEK TO HARM YOURSELF OR OTHERS


A JOURNAL – either paper or digital (this can be a simple word file). Preferably two – a gratitude and a rant.

The rant is exactly what you think it is. The ability to vomit out all the emotions and thoughts that goes on internally is more than valuable – It’s necessary.

Getting it out in the open your feelings about a matter in privacy (no one to judge – to say you should or shouldn’t feel/act/think that way) will go a long way to straighten out your  production glitches. Most times it will help you gain clarity into your feelings and thoughts.

The gratitude is where you’ll live though. It is where you will record all the things you are grateful for, all the good in your life, all your goals and ambitions. Here you’re going to be NICE to yourself. Over time the goal is to visit the rant every once in awhile, while staying grounded in gratitude.

Ladies I like to use a cursive script if doing it digitally. It fits my feeling of being delicate and pretty. For you guys – maybe go with a big bold MANLY font.

Switch up the colors for your daily entries.

Or just go plain!

Whatever you decide – make it Yours!

Whether it’s digital or paper, this is just for you.  You’ll be writing things that are not for others eyes or consumption.  As you process your thoughts and feelings when you journal, you can then rationally think through situations, and handle them in a mature and calm manner.  Your entries may very well be rants that if anyone read them, would cause a lot of damage that once processed is completely unnecessary. So bottom line – you don’t want anyone else to have access to it.  Make sure if it’s digital that there is a password on the file.  If paper, it’s secured in some fashion.
